A new OTT channel is coming in the fall 2016. Time Inc., the publishing company behind well known brands such as Time, Sports Illustrated, Travel + Leisure, People and Entertainment Weekly, will launch the People & Entertainment Weekly Network (PEWN).
PEWN will be 100% ad-supported and launch with 100 hours of original programming and 50 hours of archival footage. Content will be mainly unscripted reality-style series, 30-60min in length, from brands such as People’s Sexiest Man Alive, Time’s 100 Most Influential People, the Essence Festival and Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit edition, as well as live specials like red-carpet coverage.
The content will be distributed on the Xumo App and Platform, which are currently on select Smart TVs, and soon to be available on iOS and Android enabled smartphone.
Time Inc. will use the startup, Xumo, to deliver PEWN to connected TVs and other devices. Xumo’s parent company, Viant, was acquired by Time Inc. in February 2016.
